Intro to Film and Media is designed to develop students’ skills in video production, as well as to enrich their understanding of the impact of film and media across the world and throughout history. Through class demonstrations, hands-on assignments, and critiques, students will be exposed to concepts such as the aesthetic, compositional, technical, and sensory properties of film. In-depth study of several movements in film will broaden the student’s knowledge of the medium’s history and evolution. Students will analyze films and study filmmakers from various cultures and eras. They will apply the standards and language of art criticism when critiquing their own body of work.
