Modern Geography examines people, places, and environments on local, regional, national and international scales in contemporary society. Students will be provided the opportunity to study the influence of individuals and groups on historical and contemporary events in those societies. They will be able to describe the interaction of people, their cultural perspectives and the physical environments they inhabit. Students learn how demographic, environmental, cultural, social, political, and economic processes shape the geography of the world. Students compare modern institutions and how nations organize economic and political structures. Students will also be able to explain how the level of technology affects the development of the regions of the world.
