Digital Photography I is an introductory course designed to help students become well rounded in the fundamentals of digital photography. Within this class, students will learn to use a DSLR camera, become familiar with the basic terminology and elements of photography, and understand how to use photo editing software to enhance the overall appearance of their images. Through class demonstrations, hands-on shooting assignments, and critiques, students will be exposed to concepts such as the aesthetic, compositional, technical, and sensory properties of photography. The history and development of the medium will be examined as will photography’s cultural relevance within today’s society. Students will engage in on-going analyses of photographers, past and present, including an in depth critique of their own work.
