Joanne Kurebayashi

Education

She graduated from Peking University with a B.A. in Japanese Language and Literature. Her research interests also include comparative studies of Japanese and Chinese culture. Joanne also went back to school and obtained her Master’s degree in Business Administration from University of Vermont.

Experience

Joanne has taught Mandarin in a local Chinese language school since then for almost ten years. She is also experienced in the fields of Chinese debate, Chinese speech and SAT AP Chinese. Beyond that, as a volunteer parent, she runs competition math programs for the elementary school and the middle school her children have been to. The schools have won numerous awards at Math Olympiad, AMC8 and Mathcounts competition series. Students have benefited from her programs and some of them have been recognized as individual winners at state and national level math competitions. Joanne enjoys working with her students and share her passion and talent on foreign language study as well as math.

Fun Facts and Hobbies

  • While not at Fusion, Joanne spends most of her time with her family and friends.
  • It is likely to spot her on trails (hiking), in farms (picking the freshest produce), or in Escape rooms (for fun of brain teasing and strategic games).
