Martin MacAlister

Music Teacher/Mentor

Martin comes to Fusion with a BA in Economics and an MBA from The George Washington University. Throughout his pursuit of higher education, he remained fully active in music production, performance, and education. Martin has built and managed recording studios for GWU, Blue Room Productions, and currently works out of IVAKOTA Recording in Capitol Hill. Currently active in four bands, Martin remains connected to the DC music scene and travels regularly to tour. Students and families often think that committing to the arts requires a future career sacrifice or takes valuable time from more conventional education, but nothing could be farther than the truth. Developing artistic passion is healthy for mind and body even if you don’t become a platinum selling artist, and young people should be encouraged to explore their passions to the fullest.

Martin is a guitarist, basist, drummer, vocalist, and music producer with 15 years of experience. He has produced internationally famous bands, toured North America, Europe, Africa, and Australia, and is a British/American Citizen. Students who study with Martin will learn to find their inner voice and amplify it to the word.
