Austin McManus

Department Head



Austin McManus spent four years in the Accelerated Master's program at George Mason University. He graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts, and in 2018 completed his Master's Degree in History specializing in U.S. History.


While at university, Austin worked part-time at multiple historic homes (notably George Washington's Mount Vernon) working in public history. He also completed multiple internships familiarizing himself with the practice of history at multiple levels of government, working at such prestigious institutions like the National Archives.

Fun Facts and Hobbies

  • Have written and self-published four books, and currently write a weekly blog about film.
  • Have studied at Oxford University and marched in the New Year's Day Parade in London as a percussionist.
  • Spends most of his free time walking and playing with his dog, Daisy.
