Meagan Vakiener

Math and Science Teacher/Mentor

Meagan graduated from Dartmouth College in 2012 with a B.A. in Anthropology modified with Biological Sciences. Over the years, her research on primates has taken her to Marojejy National Park in Madagascar, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, Bwindi Impenetrable Park in Uganda, and Amboseli National Park in Kenya. In 2014, Meagan started her Ph.D. at the Center for the Advanced Study of Human Paleobiology at The George Washington University. She currently holds a MPhil and is working toward finishing her dissertation on endangered mountain gorillas. Meagan has always been passionate about math and science and was excited to join the Fusion family as an opportunity to mentor and further inspire students to pursue STEM-related careers. Since joining Fusion, Meagan has taken on the role of Mathematics Department Head and enjoys teaching all levels of math and science, especially Statistics and Anatomy.

When not working on her degree, Meagan enjoys visiting the many Smithsonian Institutions around the D.C. area, cooking, and spending time with her dog and two cats.
