Music Teacher & Mentor
After receiving his Associate degree in Music at Angelina College, Chance transferred to Stephen F. Austin State University in Fall of 2013, where he majored in Music Composition and gave guitar, ukulele, and songwriting lessons privately through SFASU’s Music Preparatory Division. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2016, earning a Bachelor of Music degree.
In 2017, upon receiving a half-graduate assistantship to work for the Music Theory and Sound Recording Technology areas, he returned to Stephen F. Austin State University to attend graduate school, majoring in Music Composition and Theory. In his second year of graduate studies, he studied abroad for a semester in Australia at the University of Tasmania, where he had the first international premiere of an original work. In Spring, 2019, he was inducted into the Pi Kappa Lambda national honor society for music. He received a Master of Music degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2019.
Chance moved to Houston, Texas, to be with his fiancé in the summer of 2019 and began teaching guitar, ukulele, bass, piano, theory, songwriting, production, and general music through Writers in the Round and Xavier Educational Academy. He taught there both physically and virtually through 2020.
He currently resides in Houston, and teaches music at Fusion Academy Sugar Land. He also plays bass and banjo for Christ Church Sugar Land. In his spare time, he plays music with his wife, accepts private commissions for classical compositions, and attends local jams of various sorts.
