Education

Clay studied at Penn State University where he received BAs in French and Spanish, a BA/MA in comparative literature, and a minor in Arabic. He has completed a graduate certificate in literary translation at the University of Houston-Victoria, and he is currently working on his Ph. D. in comparative literature at UCLA.

Experience

Clay has taught at the university level since 2015, and he first began teaching middle and high schoolers (first in France before continuing in the US!) in 2017. He also loves volunteering in education, which he has done to teach ESL and citizenship classes to people in State College, Pennsylvania and Los Angeles.

Fun Facts and Hobbies

  • Speaks five languages well and has knowledge of a few others
  • His first book-length translation came out in 2021 with hopefully more to follow
  • Loves to craft, cook, and bake to decompress
