Walter Pentland was born in Phoenix, Arizona, but spent seventeen years teaching in China. As an undergraduate, he studied Spanish and History. As a graduate student, he studied Spanish Linguistics. In 2017, he became a certified International Baccalaureate (IB) teacher.
To date, he has studied six languages: English, Spanish, Latin, Italian, Yucatec Maya, and Mandarin. In his seventeen years in China, Walter wrote and delivered courses for AP/US History, AP/World History, Academic Writing, Essay Writing, Creative Writing, University Admissions Essays, University Interview Coaching, English Literature, Morphology and Vocabulary Building, Public Speaking, SAT, SSAT, TOEFL, IELTS, Introductory Spanish, Introductory Latin, Introductory Mandarin, Model UN, Introduction to TOK, Presentation Skills, and Cross-Culture Communication.

- Published author and poet, trader in stories, his favorite teaching style is to apply lessons from one discipline to a completely separate discipline and watch the results.
- His current interests include Stem Cell Research, Exoplanets, 3D Printing, the oceans around Jupiter and Saturn, the Alcubierre/White Warp Drive, the Vatican, the exploration of Mars, the U.S. Supreme Court, the Archimedes Palimpsest, the Herculaneum Papyri, Carmen Sandiego, and using Space Age Technology to illuminate the past.
