Marissa is a native Phoenician, who completed her BA in History at Arizona State University. She also has a postgraduate certificate in International Baccalaureate Education from the University of Melbourne and is working towards an MA in History at the University of Groningen. Marissa spent 5 years teaching ESL, English Literature and History in Tokyo. She interned at EUROCLIO (The European Association of History Educators) in The Netherlands where she helped to train history teachers in using art and visual culture to promote critical thinking in the history classroom. When she’s not teaching Marissa enjoys a good story (from a book, movie, TV show, or even just a friend), catching up on politics, hiking, volunteering, and forcing her cat and dog to cuddle with her.
