Education

Lynna is a graduate of the National Hispana Leadership Institute. She earned a B.A. from The Ohio State University and earned her masters in Educational Policy and Administration at Carnegie Mellon University.

Experience

Lynna has passionately worked in a variety of capacities aiding the advancement of youth in the fields of educational policy, higher education, and k-12 public school systems. She played a pivotal role as Program Director in the implementation of Ohio’s largest education campaign aimed at closing the achievement gap for Latino students throughout the state, and also served as an Academic Retention Specialist at Carnegie Mellon University.

She directed the college-bound initiative at a k-12 public charter school system in Pittsburgh, PA, emphasizing an expansive approach to college/career preparation and student development in the areas of retention, service learning, and skill-building. Additional to her leadership roles as an advocate within a multitude of educational systems, Lynna has extensive experience in the classroom teaching English and Modern Languages.

Lynna, a resident of North County San Diego, joined in 2012 and has led its network of schools in establishing and advancing key education initiatives. Key initiatives have included launching international student programs, implementing a comprehensive school-wide assessment system focused on academic growth, enhancing the current curriculum supported by a learning management platform, and expanding student services to include social, personal, and academic development as well as college readiness.

Fun Facts and Hobbies

  • She has dedicated herself to serving the community in her work with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club, LATINA mentorship, and board member for the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation.
