Jake was a first-generation College student, who earned an Associate’s Degree in Arts and Humanities from Chabot Community College, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics and a Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, both from Cal State East Bay.
Jake started his career teaching as a student tutor at Chabot College, where he earned the tutor of the year award. During summers, Jake teaches chess as part of a summer program in Sunnyvale. Jake has taught at both the College and High school levels, and utilizes needs analyses as part of a dynamic way to track and incentivize student progress.
Fun Facts and Hobbies
- Jake is an avid outdoorsman and can be found fishing and hiking in any number of East bay regional parks, or camping at many places in Northern and Central California.
- Jake has been happily married to his wife for two years, and is expecting his first grandchild in April.
- When Jake is not enjoying the outdoors, he and his wife are spending time at Disneyland.
