Kara Nepomuceno

Kara helps Fusion students grow as writers, speakers, and supportive collaborators through personalized and embodied learning. She graduated from Oberlin College with degrees in Biology and Dance, and a minor in Comparative American Studies. She built experience in peer mentorship and advising, further developing as an educator through the Oberlin Shansi Fellowship. As a TESOL-certified English instructor at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, Kara worked with English majors and interdisciplinary graduate students to develop strong skills in research, writing, and public speaking through online classes, discussion groups, and 1-to-1 tutoring.

Arts writing, dance, and community service further inform Kara's approach to holistic learning. As a contributing writer and editor with ThINKingDANCE, she writes about dance and art-in-motion for both academic and general readership. She performs with Philippine and contemporary arts groups across San Diego, and volunteers with Bayanihan Community Response to offer culturally-informed arts workshops for Filipino Americans in National City. She looks forward to building supportive places of learning that transform individuals and communities.
