Mark Zottola

Science/Math Teacher Mentor

Before pursuing my advanced degree, I was both a European football goalkeeper and a bench chemist for a pharmaceutical firm. After obtaining a dual Ph.D. in both organic chemistry and computational biochemistry from Duke University, I was an associate research faculty member at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After 7 years there, I moved to the US Army and served in several programs, the last being in the area of mitigating chemical weapons. After 12 years with the Army, I took a break and pursued my first love – teaching. I taught math in Thailand and then chemistry in Korea. I have recently returned to the US and look forward to teaching again.
