Maia Saito

Teacher/ Mentor

Maia is excited to be working at Fusion Academy in Princeton, where she teaches Japanese and Math, provides mentorship and homework help in the Homework Café, and also acts as the campus Scheduling Assistant.

Maia graduated from Rutgers University with degrees in Chemistry and Japanese. During her studies, she received two National Science Foundation grants to complete undergraduate research at the University of Delaware and Cornell University. Her favorite undergraduate class was Globalization and Sustainability.

Since graduating, Maia has pursued work that is meaningful to her in science labs, the local food and farming movement, and education. Based on her own various experiences, she hopes to convey the universal importance of being in tune with one’s strengths and weaknesses, learning how to learn, and thinking critically to problem solve and apply one’s knowledge.

Maia’s favorite activities are probably eating and laughing with loved ones. She also likes to spend time outside observing the natural world.

A little known fact about Maia is that she was a huge marching band geek in high school and her first large purchase was buying her own trumpet.
