History and English Teacher/Mentor
Kate Doak is a History and English teacher and mentor at Fusion Academy in Plano. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History at St. John's University in New York where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and earned membership in several national honor societies including Phi Alpha Theta (History), Pi Delta Phi (French), and Phi Eta Sigma. She moved to Texas to study the history of the American West at the University of North Texas where she completed her Master of Arts in History. She is currently working towards her PhD in American History at UNT where she is researching medicine and physicians in the West.
Kate's most recent teaching experience was as a Teaching Fellow at UNT, where she taught undergraduate United States History courses and assisted other instructors in their own classes. She has also worked with students of varying ages and skill levels as a museum educator and as a literacy teacher.
When she isn't teaching or researching, Kate loves baking (pies and cheesecakes especially!), crafting, or playing with her two cats, Linus and Pickles!
