Andrew Smith-Fatten was born and raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. During high school, Andrew began to focus his attention on concert and jazz music playing the clarinet and saxophone. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Northern Illinois University. While at Northern Illinois, Andrew performed in many ensembles including the N.I.U Marching Band, Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Orchestra. In 2005, Andrew moved to Los Angeles and began teaching in the Los Angeles Unified School District. During his tenure in the LAUSD, Andrew taught English, History, Government, Economics, and Music in the San Fernando Valley.
When he’s not grading papers and preparing lesson plans, Andrew enjoys playing video games, practicing electric guitar, writing screenplays, watching movies and spending time with his wife.
