Matthew Porto is a Humanities teacher/mentor at Fusion Academy Newton.
Matthew is from Long Island, NY. After earning his bachelor’s degree in English at the University of Scranton, he traveled to Taiwan to teach English as a Second Language. After one year in Taiwan, he returned to the US and worked as a copywriter for a marketing communications company before pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing, Poetry at Boston University. Matthew is currently a PhD candidate in English specializing in Creative Writing, Poetry at Texas Tech University.
Matthew loves to read, cook, travel, play sports, and take in the historic beauty of Boston. His other interests include baseball, French and European history, jazz, classical, and indie music, as well as current affairs.
