Brian Stuligross is a violinist, guitarist, and composer originally from South Carolina. His musical studies at both the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Boston Conservatory led him to do ample self-exploration of the body, as musical performance is a type of prescribed movement that is defined by the body of those performing. This journey began with the study of Tai Chi Chaun (W.C.Chen’s Yang form), which spiraled outwards towards physical therapy and simple calisthenics (body-weight exercise), which evolved into more complex practices like surfing, all to support a sustainable musical practice. Brian’s goals in the physical wellness class are knowledge of the musculoskeletal structure, nutrition, medical resources, and proper breathing.
