Mateo Leano

Mateo is a Math and Science Teacher/Mentor for Fusion Academy Mission Viejo. In high school, Mateo never considered himself to be a “math or science guy”, but that quickly changed in college when he took his first genetics class. In his undergraduate career, Mateo had the incredible opportunity to work in a cancer research lab which sparked his passion for hands-on learning. Through this experience, he hopes to make math and science exciting for his students through real-world applications and experiential learning!

Mateo earned his B.S in Biological Sciences at Chapman University, where he gained a strong passion for physiology and molecular biology. Mateo loves to share his passion for STEM with other people, and always hopes to teach math and science with “Bill Nye energy.” Outside the classroom, Mateo loves to DJ, surf, and play guitar. Born and raised in San Jose, Mateo takes Sharks hockey very seriously and is also a very dedicated 49ers fan.
