Jami Simmons

English, History, Government, & ASL Teacher/Mentor

Though born in NJ, Jami moved to Boston for college and ended up staying for nearly 11 years until moving to NY and finding her “home” at Fusion! After completing her B.S. in Communication Sciences & Disorders with minors in Deafness & Hearing and Psychology from Emerson College, she steadily continued both working in the fields of education and Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) while taking graduate courses from Boston College in their school of education. She has worked with a very wide range of students demonstrating a very wide range of abilities, and the bulk of her experience resides in adapting education to reach every kind of learner. In third grade, a student teacher taught her class ASL and she fell in love with the language, so she knew she wanted to work in the field of education while somehow utilizing ASL for pretty much her entire life. Jami hopes to finish her master’s in SLP while working at Fusion. Her hobbies include escaping to the mountains, hiking with her dog, swimming, camping, playing piano, playing (and making up) games, and working on her children’s book series about her infamous mutt named Edie! A fun fact? She is married to her high school boyfriend whom she met in Chemistry class. 🙂
