Hannah Schwarz

Director of Student Development and ASL Teacher/Mentor

Hannah is interested in words and what makes language work. As a word nerd, you’ll find her reading, writing, and talking a lot. She earned her Bachelor’s in English with a concentration in Linguistics from George Mason University which expanded her interest in how the desire to communicate is something that connects everyone. She also developed a passion for lifelong education accessible to everyone. She believes strongly in having a novice mentality which means we all should feel free to make mistakes as long as those mistakes are used as tools to help us learn new things about ourselves and the world around us. Her love for teaching began as a student, where the best classrooms were always the ones that were open to experimentation!

Outside of class, you’ll find Hannah hiking, camping, writing nonfiction, and reading about medieval women.
