Brian is our Assistant Director and continues to teach government, history, English literature, and other social science courses. He started at Fusion in October of 2017 as a teacher/mentor and was promoted to Department Head just a few months later. His greatest professional joy is being in the classroom with students. Brian earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science and American Government from Radford University and completed his graduate work in Political Science from Virginia Tech. Brian also holds a doctorate in education with a specialization in curriculum and instruction and is an accredited private school administrator. Brian loves spending time with his young son and his wife. He writes curriculum for several prominent education service companies, and he has contributed to over 25 state standardized test banks. Brian started his teaching career at the university level and has taught and led in various public, magnet, and private schools. One of his wacky facts is that he once worked at Quantico at the FBI training academy teaching the instructors how to train the cadets.
In his free time, Brian’s favorite thing to do is tour historical sites around America with his wife, Sarah, and his son, Caleb. He also loves big band jazz music and teaching young trumpet players and has been playing in jazz and classical groups for 20 years.
