Teacher / Mentor
Stephen Winsor is excited to join Fusion Academy as a science teacher and mentor. He earned a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and was a member of the division-1 men’s lacrosse team. He went on to earn an M.S. in Biology from CSU Fresno. While at UMBC, Stephen mentored at-risk youth from Baltimore city schools for three years and coached local high school lacrosse teams. During his master’s, Stephen was a graduate teaching assistant at CSU Fresno and an adjunct instructor of Biology at Reedley College. He also worked as a Scientific Aid with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, where he studied Chinook salmon. When Stephen is not teaching, you might find him enjoying new music, discovering new restaurants, or playing and/or watching basketball. He also enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, camping, and anything in the ocean. For the middle school talent show, Stephen and his friends performed a beautiful rendition of “My Girl” by The Temptations and were heroically applauded off stage (according to his recollection).
