Ana De Forge is a teacher who is driven to make the world a better place. She wants to negate the perception of “us” and “them” and to inspire young people to open their minds and connect with people throughout the world. She has lived most of her life in Spanish-speaking communities in Puerto Rico, Massachusetts, Florida, México, and most recently in Chile and Argentina. She was initially trained as a bilingual teacher at UPR and UMass and later had the extraordinary opportunity to study language acquisition and learning with the world’s greatest experts in this field at the School for International Training where she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching (in both Spanish and English). Ana spent 15 years teaching in public schools, 10 years tutoring, and last year taught at a technical college in Santiago de Chile. She has worked with children of all ages, teen parents, families of migrant farmworkers, incarcerated youths, and piloted one of the first education programs in the US designed for homeless people. She is thrilled to discover Fusion Academy and to guide each of her students to find the best in themselves.
Meeting people from many different places is one of Ana’s favorite things. Dancing with those people is her greatest passion. And yes, she has traveled to other continents – and lived there – just to dance. Outside of school, look for her on a dance floor, embracing strangers who become cherished friends.
