Alyssa (Aly) Bjorkquist

Alyssa flew up from Los Angeles to the forests and rivers at the University of Oregon to earn her B.S. in Marine Biology and Psychology. She graduated with honors from the Robert D. Clark Honors College, completing an undergraduate thesis on a keystone species in tide pool ecosystems. She is currently studying science education curriculum development and evaluation in nontraditional learning spaces for her graduate degree at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB).

Alyssa developed her love for STEM and the outdoors primarily outside of the classroom. Years of running around mountain trails at Girl Scout camps and volunteering at her local aquarium helped her realize that she can combine her two passions into one career: science education! After her undergraduate, Alyssa continued developing her teaching and research expertise through positions in Catalina Island, Panama, accredited zoos and aquariums (Alaska SeaLife Center, Los Angeles Zoo, and Aquarium of the Pacific).
