Navigating the Special Education System

Navigating through the special education system can be frustrating and overwhelming for parents leaving many unanswered questions.
Join our event to learn and gain understanding of the processes and resources available from the moment parents find out their school is not on their side causing a grief reaction to navigating and assessing resources available to them.

Jane Dubovy is an Attorney at Law and Certified Mediator. After practicing law for over 20 years, specializing in bankruptcy,  she plunged into the area of representing other parents faced with similar obstacles she faced years earlier with her son, when advocating for their own children.  Jane understands the fear, confusion, and hopelessness of these parents.  Jane is an advocate educating and empowering parents to not settle for the limitations imposed by others on their children and helping parents become active participants and advocates for the future of their children

Dr. Ann Simun is a clinical neuropsychologist, specializing in diagnosis and treatment planning for children and teens with neuro-developmental and medical disorders. She is licensed in California as a Clinical Psychologist and Educational Psychologist. She presumes competence and strives to find the strengths in every child specializing in complex differential diagnosis and complex forensic cases. She has extensive experience with the IEP process, Fair Hearings for Regional Center, civil litigation and Due Process Hearings.

We look forward to learning with you!
