Director of First Impressions
Howard Kim was born in Northern California and has been living in Los Angeles for the past 6 years. He has worked in education in various fields. His first experience in education was being an extended class teacher at a private school, Challenger, in Palo Alto, CA. He also volunteered in 2018 as an English teacher overseas in Iraq for the Yazidi people in the Kurdish region of Iraq. The Yazidi people were freed from ISIS in 2014 after they launched a genocide. Right before joining Fusion Academy, Howard was a Lead Mentor for College Spring, a non-profit that reduces the inequity for students from low income backgrounds by providing a mentoring program for the SAT, ACT, and college preparation to ensure higher education.
Howard is a people person by nature. Outside of working, he enjoys volunteering, cooking, hiking, listening to music, watching movies, traveling, and hanging out with friends and family. He graduated from Cal State Los Angeles with a BA in Sociology, and is looking to use his degree to work and serve marginalized populations, just like our Fusion students who need alternative education to support their learning.
