Education
Alison received her BA and teaching credential from Smith College, a prestigious all-women’s college in Northampton, Massachusetts, in 1998, and participated in the Urban Education Program at Barnard College in NYC, which specializes in the educational needs and issues facing large metropolitan areas.
Experience
During her 20+ years of teaching experience, Alison has taught English and history in both middle and high schools and homeschool classes for all grades pre-K through high school. As a college advisor, Alison specializes in guiding students through the intimidating college search and application process, focusing on each individual student’s goals. Alison believes that education should address the specific learning needs of each student and should be reflective, for both the student and the teacher, in order to best promote academic success and the student’s personal development.
Fun Facts and Hobbies
- In her spare time, Alison creates art books, journals, and collage/mixed-media art out of all kinds of things most people would discard
- Alison also collects anything vintage—buttons, paper, toys, dishes
- Alison spends lots of time snuggling with her kitty Remy, who is named after the rat in the Pixar film Ratatouille!
