Emily Shearer is a poet and French/English/yoga/writing teacher. She grew up in North Carolina (UNC-Chapel Hill ’93, BA-French), attended graduate school at George Mason University and has lived in Texas, Arizona, Virginia, southern France, and Prague, Czech Republic. She is fluent in French and speaks some Italian and Czech. Her poems have been twice nominated for a Pushcart Prize and widely published in print and on-line journals and anthologies. Before coming to Fusion, she served as the Poetry Editor and Associate Book Developer of an independent literary press and before that, she taught French on closed-circuit satellite television and produced on-site French language videos in Quebec and Paris. She leads Yoga for Creative Writers workshops and volunteers teaching yoga for breath and healing. She is the wife of a die-hard Tarheels fan and mother of three teenagers (!) When she’s not in the classroom, writing studio, or on the yoga mat, you can find her baking up a mean batch of brownies, stand-up paddle boarding off Emerald Isle, strolling the hilltops of Prague, sipping cafe au lait in a sidewalk café or on the web at bohemilywrites.net.
