Teacher/Learning Differences Liason
In addition to teaching English and History, Stewart is our Learning Differences Liaison. She was raised here in Houston but has traveled extensively for both teaching and volunteer work. She is a graduate of the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a degree in English and a minor in linguistics. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in High Incidence Special Education from Fort Hays State University in Kansas. While living in Fairbanks, she taught Freshman English Composition at UAF, volunteered with youth organizations, and spent her free time hiking and studying conflict violence in East Africa.
Stewart has spent time working in Uganda and has partnered with Meet the Needy in Ethiopia. Prior to Fusion, Stewart taught History and English at Trent International School, and was a 6th grade resource teacher in Manhattan, Kansas. An avid runner, Stewart can almost always be found outdoors on the weekends, or, if weather forces her inside, she’s studying East Africa or reading science fiction.
