Zach was born and raised in Houston, Texas where he spent most of his childhood. He came to Dallas in 2014 to begin school at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), where he was a student in the undergraduate neuroscience program. He received his Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from UTD in Spring 2018, graduating with magna cum laude honors. During his time at UTD, he worked in the Student Success Center for 3 years, where he helped students in chemistry as a Supplemental Instruction leader. He also volunteered his time as a teaching assistant (T.A.) for statistics, anatomy & physiology, and upper-level biology courses. Finally, he also planned and taught a course for incoming freshmen about adjusting to college life. It was difficult to keep him out of the classroom!
In his [infinite] spare time, Zach likes to play his clarinet – he was active in the symphony orchestra and wind ensemble his entire time through college. He also enjoys practicing yoga to help de-escalate his stress from his daily life.
Zach is excited to be a part of the Fusion team and share his passion for science with students here. He is inspiring and able to relate the importance of science to our students. Already a certified EMT, Zach has future plans to go to medical school and become a physician. He believes he can apply his passions for teaching and selflessly helping others to any career, especially medicine. He hopes to be able to provide his future patients with the care, compassion, and respect they deserve.
