Caitlin Hallstrom

English Department Head & Teacher/Mentor

Caitlin earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Creative Writing from the University of Texas at Arlington. In college, she was the President of the National Society for Leadership and Success and, in 2017, traveled abroad throughout the UK (living primarily in London) where she studied William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, and JRR Tolkien. She is currently studying to earn her MEd in English and Instructional Leadership at the American College of Education.

In August 2019, Caitlin joined the Fusion family, teaching at Plano’s campus for a year and a half before joining Dallas’ team. Before coming to Fusion, Caitlin was a tutor at UT Arlington’s Writing Center. Near the end of her two and a half years of tutoring for UTA, she received Tutor of the Year from the English Department. After graduating from college, Caitlin moved to the Plano area, working as an editor before switching back into the tutoring field at the end of 2018. During her time as an editor, she had a non-fiction essay and a short story published in Texas Emerging Writers anthologies and plans to continue submitting her work for publication.

In August 2018, Caitlin married her husband, Forrest, who is an English/History teacher at Fusion Plano’s campus. They live happily in Plano with their corgi, Freya, and their cat, Valkyrie. In her free time, Caitlin loves to play RPG video games, like Mass Effect and Dragon Age, read every book she can get her hands on, play Dungeons and Dragons with her husband and friends, and write novels, short stories, and essays. She also hopes to travel more in the future, seeing as many countries as she can and returning to her home-away-from-home, England, but this time with her husband.

Caitlin is thrilled to be the Department Head of English at Fusion Academy Dallas and cannot wait to instill the love of learning, reading, and being a shameless nerd in her students.
