Barb Rieger


Master's Degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and School Counseling


Barb Rieger graduated from Illinois State University with degrees in Deaf Education and Theatre. She received a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National-Louis University and a Master's Degree in School Counseling from Concordia University Chicago.


Barb was a teacher of the Deaf at Kinzie School in Chicago, where she taught Drama, Dance and Fine Arts to both the Deaf and Hearing students. She then taught Public Speaking and Broadcasting at Maine South High School in Park Ridge. For the last two years, Barb taught American Sign Language in the World Languages Department of Plainfield East High School. Last May, after teaching for 35 years, Barb retired. She has directed, assistant directed and choreographed several high school productions.

  • Enjoys singing at her church and in theatre groups in the city and suburbs of Chicago
  • Judges High School Speech Team competitions throughout Illinois
  • Loves spending time with her husband and children, Christopher and Kaylie
