Russell Cambron

English and History Teacher/Mentor

Russell likes to say that he is proof that students should study what they love. He started college studying music education and soon developed a desire to study other artistic pursuits like photography and literature. People told him he couldn’t make a living studying anything artistic, so he decided to study something more “serious.”

Fast-forward a few years, and Russell had accumulated a B.A. in religious studies from Georgia State University, an M.A. in the same field from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an M.A. in clinical psychology from the Santa Barbara campus of Antioch University. He soon landed what he thought was his dream job, working at a nonprofit counseling center. Less than one year later, the center closed due to a lack of funding.

At that point, Russell realized there is no such thing as a major that guarantees a job, much less job security. He moved back to Atlanta and enrolled at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he completed his M.F.A. degrees in writing (2019) and photography (2017). He joined our team at Fusion Buckhead as a Teacher and Mentor in English and History in February 2020.

In his spare time, Russell enjoys reading, writing, taking and making photographs, and watching his favorite t.v. shows: Star Trek (original, TNG, and Voyager), The Golden Girls, Jeopardy, and Bob’s Burgers.
