Experience

Richard has worked in the field of marketing communications as a graphic designer and consultant for over three decades.

Richard has a passion for mentoring the next generation of creative professionals and sharing knowledge based on his career experience. He taught "Introduction to Graphic Design" in a part-time capacity at Georgia State and The Portfolio Center. He also served as a judge for portfolio reviews at SCAD and Creative Circus. Richard has mentored numerous younger designers and later hired them as freelancers.

Richard has worked for himself since 2004. He built his business through networking and social media outreach. He helps his clients clarify their business objectives, define their audiences, and impact their target markets through strategic brand development.

Richard has been a Meetup organizer since 2012. In 2017, he started a philosophical discussion group called SPARK. SPARK has become a thriving community of intellectually curious people who join together for book discussions and social events that occur as much as twice per month. It has been a great success, expanding to almost 800 members. Richard's interest in philosophy began in high school and deepened in adulthood, especially as he realized its broad usefulness in engaging practical concerns (and not just the more complicated questions as to what constitutes a fulfilling life). Since starting the group, Richard has read extensively and presented on topics ranging from Stoicism to Existentialism.
