Karen has been a teacher since 1985 when she taught her first French course in a rural high school in Maine. Since then she has taught on four different continents and in large, urban schools to one room schoolhouses. Aside from French instruction, she has been a high school Health Educator, co-founder of a Wellness Center and ran peer counseling programs.
Karen graduated from University of Maine, received her teaching credential from St. Mary’s and is a registered EMT. She was born and raised in San Francisco (fifth generation) and has dual citizenship with Switzerland. Karen lives in Berkeley with her husband, dog, cat, chickens, and beehives and her beloved son lives nearby.
