Elizabeth (Betsy) Spear is a Humanities Teacher at Fusion Academy. The daughter of an English teacher, Her love of literature started at a young age and flourished as she went on to study Latin literature, focusing on the poetry of Vergil and Ovid. Her goal as a teacher is to foster a love of learning and to help every student understand, appreciate, and harness the power of language. She also hopes to encourage each student to find their unique voice and to express their unique perspective as an individual.
Betsy graduated from Williams College with a BA in Classics and a minor in Women’s’ and Gender Studies. She earned her Masters in Classics from Bryn Mawr College and pursued a PhD until she followed her heart and started teaching full time. She has taught at various independent schools on the Main Line and is thrilled to be part of Fusion’s growing family!
When Betsy is not spending time with her husband and cat, she enjoys fitness, mysteries, music, and shopping with friends. She also likes crossword puzzles and is always up for a game of Scrabble!
