Melissa Lavery graduated from Central Michigan University with a B.S. in Secondary Education, specializing in English and history. Melissa earned an M.S. in Psychology, with an emphasis in child and adolescent development, from Capella University.
Experience
Melissa has several years' experience as a teacher in various capacities. She was a teacher for homebound students while completing her student teaching. From there, she was a professional educator for six years, where she taught Journalism I-IV, psychology, English 9, and photojournalism. She was the student newspaper adviser and head junior varsity volleyball coach. Melissa also taught junior high students at a local church, led adults in multiple wellness/contemplative practice classes, and she serves as a Scout den leader for elementary-aged children. At present, she is also a Child Development Specialist at Penn Medicine, where she teaches parenting classes.
