Catherine Keightley

Head of School

Catherine has had a diverse entrepreneurial career that has spanned the corporate, non-profit and education sectors and for the last 12 years has focused on providing educational opportunities for and supporting local youth and their families.

Working as a high school Marketing teacher in both Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) and Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), Catherine’s goal was to deliver curriculum-based projects that intrigued students, taught critical thinking skills, and that were current, relevant, and fun.

As a DECA advisor, she mentored her students as they competed at both the local, state, and national levels for this global student-centered organization. Prior to earning her teaching license, Catherine spent several years leading youth development non-profits. As the Executive Director of Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia, she used the skills she developed as a corporate Marketing executive to move the organization from a grass-roots non-profit to a $1.4 million dollar organization that was named the Northern Virginia Non-Profit of the Year. Catherine was also recruited by The Reading Connection to help determine the future path to success for this 28-year-old non-profit dedicated to providing educational opportunities to our community’s disadvantaged youth.
Catherine started her career in marketing for start-up technology companies. As a Vice President of Marketing for venture-capital backed enterprises, she learned how to leverage operational efficiencies, especially technology; develop and manage budgets; and collaboratively create and manage strategic initiatives. Catherine also worked as a Senior Brand Consultant for The Brand Consultancy, focusing on developing and implementing brands to both internal and external audiences.

Community service has always been an important part of Catherine’s contribution to the community. She was a member of the George Mason University Career Advisory Board, volunteered as a GRACE Arts “Arts in the Schools" Docent, was awarded the Presidential Service Award for her volunteer work with the National Charity League, and was a founding Board Member of the Virginia Girls Summit.

Catherine spends her free time exercising, travelling, watching sports, and spending time with her husband, 16-year-old daughter, and 21-year-old son.
