Erica Carlino


Erica Carlino holds a Bachelors of Fine Art in Graphic Design, a Masters of Sociology & Public Policy, and is working to complete her Doctorate from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service in Human Rights & International Social Work.

From 2005 until 2010, she lived and worked in the Czech Republic, where she was part of an EU funded joint investigative team to combat sex trafficking along the Czech-German-Polish Border. The culmination of her work resulted in a best practices monograph and report for the European Commission. While studying in the Czech Republic she wrote her Master's thesis on sex trafficking in the Roma Community and has presented her findings at conferences internationally.
After graduating from her Masters, Erica spent 8 years in New York City, where she worked as a Consultant for UNDP and a Representative to the United Nations (UN). Currently she still serves as a UN Representative, and is an Executive Board Member on the NGO Committee for Social Development. Erica looks forward to connecting her students with the international dialogue happening at the UN.
Erica comes to Fusion Academy with a broad range of knowledge and subject matter expertise in International Relations, Human Rights Law, Sociology, History, Geography, Art, Advertising and counseling. Having taught at the University level, she has always had a passion for teaching and the desire to someday teach at the secondary level. She believes it is extremely important to inspire and mentor young adults in their most formative years, so they can thrive in a University setting as well as whatever future endeavors they choose. Her personal interest lies in non-traditional approaches to learning, especially for students with learning disabilities. She knows all children are learners it’s just about tapping into their learning style and most importantly their passion.
She is grateful to be part of the Fusion team and excited to be working with such a wonderful group of students and staff. She especially looks forward to engaging her students in a FUSION style model United Nations from her own personalized curriculum.
