Director of Student Development
Mary Johnson works to provide students and families with an exceptional journey at Fusion, by creating a personalized experience through planning, scheduling and beyond. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and American Literature from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, later earning a Masters in Secondary Education and a Masters in Educational Leadership and Administration, both from Arizona State University. Over the past 10 years she has worked in a variety of educational environments, including as a Registrar at a post-secondary institution, a high school history and writing teacher at an inner-city public charter school, and a middle school Assistant Principal and literacy curriculum writer/trainer for a large charter network in New York City. She also worked with a cohort of high school students and their families in Phoenix, helping them access and understand the high school-to-college transition process from 9th grade through 12th grade. In her free time, Mary is an active aunt, spending lots of time with her niece and nephew, as well as her own dog and cat. She enjoys running, writing, and making cozy things out of yarn for loved ones while drinking too much coffee. She is persnickety about textures in foods and is especially terrified of bananas, cheesecake and tapioca pudding.
