"Your Struggling to Launch Young Adult: Building the Optimal Partnership for Launch" - presented by Richard Silver, M.D., Founder and Director of The THRIVE Center in Maryland.
In addition to the impact on school performance, ADHD and Executive Dysfunction can significantly impair a young adult’s ability to transition successfully to independence. Parents play a challenging role at this stage – having to both respect the young adult’s desire for autonomy while actively guiding their development.
This presentation will help parents understand:
- why failure to launch young adults with ADHD get stuck at this developmental juncture;
- what professional treatment is recommended; and
- how they can support their young adult more successfully move towards launch.
Building this optimal partnership with their young adults helps parents shift from a sense of powerlessness and hopelessness to one of effectiveness and confidence.
This lecture is part of the Northern Virginia and DC's "Understanding ADHD" Lecture Series. The lecture is FREE and open to the public. Donations are greatly appreciated.
