Fusion's summer program
Help your child make the most of summer with our one-to-one summer classes, enrichment programs, and skill-building. Take advantage of
flexible scheduling to customize a program that will let your student maintain momentum, catch up on credits, polish a skill, or get a jump-start for fall.
Our unique
one-to-one approach to teaching, tutoring, and mentoring unleashes the potential of every child to learn in their own way—and it works! It’s what makes Fusion the best place for your student to get ahead this summer, while still allowing time for fun, friends, and family.
You can find more details about the summer program in our
online brochure.

Classes for credit
Retake a class, get ahead of peers, ease stress for next year or replace a poor grade on a transcript with our available summer classes for credit. All of our classes for credit are taught with a one-to-one ratio, with curriculum individually tailored to each student’s unique personality and learning style. They are accepted as transferable units by most high schools.
Each student is required to attend 17 instructional sessions per semester, but some courses will require an extension of time to meet graduation requirements. Students can begin a class at any time of the year.
You will find a list of available classes on our
classes for credit page.
Essay writing
One of our most popular summer programs! Michelle Rose Gilman’s Hamburger Writing curriculum teaches students how to write the standard five-paragraph essay. Using the analogy of a hamburger, students learn where to insert important information and where and how to place ideas for maximum effectiveness.
Our summer essay writing classes are aimed at students in elementary school through graduate school who want or need to improve their writing skills.
Novel pre-reading
Read ahead the novels that will appear on the required reading list during the next school year. This program focuses on reading comprehension and note taking, as well as understanding characters, themes, symbolism, and writing.
This class is designed for students who struggle to complete books during the hectic school year, have challenges with reading comprehension, or who want to get ahead for the upcoming school year. It is aimed at students in elementary school through college.
Summertime skill building
Get an extra boost in the basic academic skill areas. Formulated especially for each student on an individual basis, the program focuses on the particular skill area in which a student requires assistance. Subjects available are: writing, reading comprehension, grammar and punctuation, spelling, handwriting, math facts and skills, and more.
This class is aimed at students in elementary school through high school who may not have had time during the regular school year to improve their skills in particular areas.
Summer school tutoring
Looking for effective summer school
tutoring for your child? A continuation of our regular school-year tutoring, this program gives students subject-specific tutoring assistance and mentoring support, thereby increasing the student’s self-esteem and academic success level in the upcoming school year. The summer school tutoring program is offered in all subject areas and encourages the development of self-advocacy skills, problem solving and self-confidence. Study skills, test-taking skills, and organization skills are also taught in this program.
This class is designed for elementary through high school students who struggle with particular subjects and/or need to grow their confidence and mastery level in a specific subject.
Get-ahead program
Get a jump on next school year’s curriculum. Using the student’s own textbooks, this class functions as a “preview” of the upcoming year, instructing students how to approach the information with confidence. The program is offered in all subject areas. Study skills, note taking, and test preparation are also taught in this program, using students’ textbooks as well as an immersion in Michelle Rose Gilman’s “Study Tricks and Hot Tips.”
This class is designed for students who want to be prepared for the upcoming school year, or who want to decrease anxiety and stress over a particular subject they will be taking in the upcoming school year. It is aimed at elementary school through high school students.
Study & school-survival skills
This program teaches practical study skills students struggle with: note taking, time management, organizational skills, test preparation, and more. Michelle Rose Gilman’s “Study Tricks and Hot Tips” are employed for optimal skill improvement.
This class is designed for students in elementary school through high school who want to learn to develop better study habits.
SAT & ACT prep
This course reviews the foundation of the SAT or ACT and teaches specific tactics and techniques to raise a student’s score on the test. Each student is given a baseline SAT or ACT to determine his or her unique strengths and weaknesses, and then an individual plan is developed to fortify the student’s strong areas and overcome the weak ones. This program includes instruction in the critical reading, math and new writing sections of the SAT.
