CALABASAS, Calif.—Officials at Fusion Academy & Learning Center Calabasas, a new, college-prep alternative private school offering students in grades 6-12 a unique one-to-one learning experience, announced today that Dr. Jennifer Rumack will serve as the head of school when doors open this February.
A part of American Education Group’s network of customized private schools, the new school is modeled after Fusion Academy & Learning Center in San Diego. Founded 20 years ago with the understanding that traditional school is not the best option for every child, Fusion Academy & Learning Center utilizes a “personalized learning” model to help individual students through a dynamic, one-to-one method of teaching and mentoring.
A resident of West Hills, Dr. Rumack joins Fusion Academy with nearly 15 years experience as an administrator, including time as principal at Trinity Academy and the Pasadena Unified School District. Most recently, she served as deputy superintendent for Options for Youth, Inc., and its network of 31 public charter schools across California.
“With her vast experience in diverse educational environments, we are fortunate to welcome Jennifer to the growing Fusion Academy team,” said Michelle Rose Gilman, founder and president of Fusion Academy. “Her passion and tireless commitment will be a tremendous asset as we prepare to open our Calabasas campus.”
A graduate of the University of California San Diego, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Dr. Rumack also holds dual Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies as well as Sociology from California State University Northridge. She also holds a Doctorate in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Southern California.
“Working with Fusion Academy was an opportunity I couldn’t pass on,” said Dr. Rumack. “The school’s engaging learning model produces an environment and culture that is ideal for maximizing student potential, academically and socially. I look forward to welcoming students in February and building a positive school community.”
