Fusion Learning Center is so much more than a traditional tutoring center—with more individual attention, more flexibility, and more options.
Five advantages of Fusion Learning Center:
- Our one-to-one ratio and mentoring approach to learning allows for every session to be customized to the individual student’s needs, interests, and learning style.
- Every tutor is also a teacher, with a bachelor's degree or higher, and knows what your child needs to learn to succeed.
- There are no set tutoring "packages," rather the quantity and frequency of tutoring sessions is determined on an individual basis.
- Tutoring sessions are offered any time of day, not just after school, to meet the scheduling demands of each student.
- In addition to standard- and honors-level academic tutoring, we offer SAT/ACT test prep and enrichment classes in art, music, yoga, and more!
Art Classes - overview
The one-to-one teaching environment creates a very different experience for the Visual Arts at Fusion. While the curriculum is designed to cover state standards, the content and teaching style are completely adapted to the individual student’s preferences, encouraging self-expression without the distraction of a large class or the frustrations of a limited environment, standardized projects, strict timeline, and peer judgment, often seen in the traditional realm through use of model examples and/or a sense of competition.
In Studio Art, for example, the class will be tailored to your most effective learning style, allowing you to be taught in a manner conducive to the way you learn best. Have trouble sitting still? The teacher can provide you with hands-on tools and materials to explore and learn with as you discuss concepts. This may include demonstrating the elements of art (color, line, shape, form, space, texture, and value) rather than just looking at examples: showing “line” with wire, graphite, charcoal, micron pen or showing “color” with a palette of thick, richly intense acrylic paints with hands-on color mixing and shading.
Not only is the content of the course customized and the teaching style, but the environment is designed to let you experience art within a setting of inspiring, creative possibilities. The art room provides inspiration in sensory languages through visual presentation, aromatherapy, tactile experience, and music of your choice. Music has proven to be particularly important, as a form of inspiration, and we respect the listening choices of each individual. The student feels comfortable and more in sync with the environment when working on a piece of art and being able to listen to the music he or she finds inspiring.
One-to-one teaching provides numerous advantages. We have only to follow our own timeframe, without worry of others catching up or being held back. Some of our students, because of learning differences or temperament, are far more successful having the opportunity to visualize, design, create, and recreate at their own pace.
We also have the advantage of more specialized materials for our art classes, not having to supply a large number of student materials that might otherwise be cost-prohibitive. For example, micron pens, individually cut matting for compositions, fan brushes, etc. We have the advantage of catering to the student’s inner self, taking the time to become well-acquainted with the student and his or her personal preferences.
