Students in grades 6-12 may earn transferable school credits through Fusion Learning Center's Classes for Credit program.
Fusion classes are not your everyday, ordinary classes. Rather than a row of desks and a less-than-ideal ratio, every single class at Fusion is taught one-to-one. That means just one student and one teacher in their own private classroom. The classes are tailored to the students' needs—from the time of day they're scheduled to the teaching style and course topic—but they still meet state standards and are accepted as transferable units by most high schools.
Classes are offered year round, Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., giving students the ultimate scheduling flexibility. Students may begin a new class at any time of year.

Computer 7 is a continuation of Computer 6.
Computer 8 is a continuation of both Computer 6 and 7.
Computer Applications is an introduction to computers. Topics covered include an overview of various computer systems, operating system software, hardware, information systems, storage, various user interfaces, productivity software, networking basics, graphics and design, multimedia, software, and ethical computer usage. This course will teach the basics of software from Microsoft Office, to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access. Computer Applications is perfect for those wanting to get a handle on computer basics in a hands-on course.
Computer Applications II is an in-depth HTML course. Topics covered include HTML, CSS, and XML; dynamic web design and scripting techniques; graphics and animation relating to web design; page design; advanced layouts using modern styling practices; embedding multimedia; managing web sites; and search engines.
This course covers the fundamentals of acting on stage. Most major assignments will be performing prepared scenes.
Animation production will teach students fundamentals. Students
will be introduced to the history and importance of animation to popular
culture. The course will then guide learners through the
fundamentals of character development, story narrative, scriptwriting, storyboarding,
and finally animation.

This course lays theoretical groundwork in acoustics and their relationships to electronic equipment used in DJing. The course equips students with the fundamental concepts of performing arts and terminology necessary to pursue a career in DJing.
This course covers the basics of drama. You will learn about the actual performance and the backstage work that it takes to make a play happen on the stage.
This course covers the basics of screenwriting. You will produce both a rough and a final draft of an actual screenplay.
This is a two semester elective course. The purpose of Theatre Appreciation is to increase student understanding, critical analysis skills, and appreciation of stage productions. Students will gain knowledge of the history of theatre, learn about the technical components of a production, and study major modern and classic playwrights and composers. Students are required to attend three productions during each semester of this course and participate in thoughtful discussions about the production. In addition, students write short reports and make presentations throughout the year.
English 6 students will work on grammar, literature, and spelling, while vocabulary will be taught using an integrated approach. Literature will include short stories, non-fiction, the novel, mythology, folk tales, drama, and poetry. Grammar units will include parts of speech, parts of a sentence, kinds of sentences, fragments, run-ons, subject-verb agreement, verb usage, comparison of adjectives and adverbs, and essay writing in the four writing modes. Other units will be taught as deemed necessary through student evaluation.
English 7 will build on the work done in English 6.
Eighth grade English has as its primary emphasis in the careful reading and analysis of literature from various literary genres. Students also gain further experience in narrative, descriptive, and essay writing. They continue to develop their vocabulary and to refine their understanding and use of formal English grammar and mechanics.
The purpose of this course is to provide instruction and practice in grammar, spelling, writing, literature, study skills, and technology related to language arts, reading, and writing as outlined in the state standards.
In sixth grade English Language Arts, students continue to develop an appreciation of written and spoken language. They expand their use of descriptive words and complex sentences, as well as their choices of modes of writing. Throughout sixth grade, students continue to develop the ability to critique constructively their own work as well as the work of others. Students use oral language, written language, and media and technology for expressive, informational, argumentative, critical, and literary purposes. Students use the stages of the writing process to write clear, coherent compositions that develop an idea or tell a story.
Language Arts 7 will build on the work done in Language Arts 6.
Language Arts 8 will build on the work done in Language Arts 7.
English 12 students will achieve mastery of the skills related to listening and speaking, academic research, higher order reading comprehension, language usage and writing, literary analysis, and critical thinking. Students will develop the listening and
speaking skills they need for higher education. In writing, they will learn to develop position papers and use a variety of creative writing modes, particularly the more complex, such as writing essays based on models of the seventeenth through twentieth centuries.
Students will study classical literature to complete the literature component, and literature from around the world will be included. Students will draw upon community resources as they can be integrated into their readings.
English 11 students will continue to develop the skills they must have to express their ideas in writing or orally in clear, concise, and comprehensive ways. Students respond to literature and have ample opportunity to cultivate and develop public speaking skills. In writing, they focus on critical analysis of literary selections. Writing formats include free write, creative writing, personal essays, and formal essays. Students will use primary sources for research papers to broaden the scope of the topics they have selected. Through tier study of literature, students also develop knowledge of, and an appreciation for, American traditions. Students regularly draw upon community resources as they can be integrated into their readings and research.
English 10 students will continue to receive instruction in the major skill areas: speaking and listening, academic research, higher order reading comprehension, language usage, writing and rhetorical literary analysis, and critical thinking. Students will develop the speaking skills needed, write essays of substantial length, and use increasingly precise language on sophisticated topics. They will do research of an in-depth nature, using a broad range of sources and an original hypothesis, and they will read and analyze literature of increasing difficulty in terms of language use and thematic content. Students will regularly draw upon community resources as they can be integrated into their readings and research.
The honors-level course will explore the same topics as the standard-level course, but in a more in-depth manner.
English 9 students will develop skills in speaking and listening, academic research, higher order reading comprehension, language usage and writing, literary analysis, and critical thinking. In English 9, students build the foundation they will need for
mastering all the skill areas by the time they complete English 12. Students regularly draw upon community resources as they can be integrated into their readings and research. Exemplary resources are the libraries, Internet, plays and movies, and book shops.
Creative Writing is a course designed to help the student explore Fiction Writing. A variety of short stories and various authors will be read to aid in the understanding of author style and technique. Students will study all elements of Fiction Writing and will be required to compile a portfolio for the end of the semester.
This course teaches all forms of poetry to a student and allows the student to either read or write poems.

Chemical Dependency and recovery education is a course designed to increase awareness regarding the concerns surrounding adolescent drug and alcohol abuse, and the differences between substance experimentation, use, abuse, and dependency. The effects of various types of drugs on an adolescent's developing brain are thoroughly explored. The class also covers education on the 12-Steps of Recovery and Life Skills. Increased insight into self-exploration and the importance of developing healthy coping strategies is also emphasized.
Drug Education is an elective course designed to introduce students to the realities of drug use and abuse. Students will be introduced to drug basics and brain basics, relating how drugs affect the brain and in particular the brain's pleasure centers. They will also learn how each drug type affects the brain and body in both the short and long term. Through this course, students will develop a better understanding of drug addiction and explore treatment options for people who are addicted to drugs.
Health is a one semester survey which uses lecture, discussion, readings, films, guest speakers, and hands-on activities to help the student understand all aspects of personal and community health. This curriculum builds character assets that foster resiliency and personal growth, and also prepares the student for their future success living a healthier lifestyle. This course is designed to provide the student with a complete overview of health education. At the end of the class, the student should have skills to be a self-directed learner, an effective communicator, and a more prepared individual to start their life after high school. Students will regularly draw upon community resources as they can be integrated into their readings and research.
Students in grade six expand their understanding of history by studying the people and events that ushered in the dawn of the major Western and non-Western ancient civilizations. Geography is of special significance in the development of the human story. Continued emphasis is placed on the everyday lives, problems, and accomplishments of people and their role in developing social, economic, and political structures, as well as the establishing and spreading of ideas that helped transform the world forever. Students develop higher levels of critical thinking by considering why civilizations developed where and when they did, why they became dominant, and why they declined. Students analyze the interactions among the various cultures, emphasizing their enduring contributions and the link, despite time, between the contemporary and ancient worlds.
The goals of this course are to teach the students about cultural awareness and cultural differences. We study the geography of countries and regions, and how climate and terrain shape people's lives. From that point, we study the cultural processes and cultural systems (dress, food, economy, literature, art, politics, and beliefs) that emerge from human interaction with the environment. We learn the lines of latitude and longitude, and about how the actual location of a place on the globe is impacted by climate and terrain, which in turn affects the way people shape their respective world views, their environments, and how they produce and transport goods. We learn from an interdisciplinary approach, combining history, geography, literature, and art in the process.
Eighth grade US History and Geography students will gain an understanding of the people and events that have brought the United States into the twenty-first century. They will draw parallels to the present by learning about the geography of America; colonial heritage and the American Revolution; the Constitution and the Challenges as a new nation; Westward Expansion; the Civil War and Reconstruction; Immigration; the Industrial Age and the Progressive Movement; American Imperialism and the road to World War I.
Cultural Geography examines people, places, and environments on local, regional, national, and international scales. Sociological and cultural perspectives will be covered as well. Students will be provided with the opportunity to study the interaction of people, cultures, and their physical environments. The purpose of this course is to help students develop geographical skills that will enable them to better understand and appreciate the place where they live as well as places around the world. They will also learn about how their lives are interconnected with the lives of people around the world, and will discover that geography is about much more than knowing where places are. It is about understanding the fundamental importance of space and place for all aspects of our lives. We explore the major topics of human geography though detailed case studies that show how demographic, environmental, cultural, social, political, and economic processes shape the geography of the world. Moreover, the topics we explore in this class lead directly into topics studied in numerous other classes including sociology, economics, political science, history, civil engineering, ethnic studies, and gender studies among others.
This one semester required course studies how people and countries use their resources to produce, distribute, and consume goods and services. Included are considerations of traditional economic concepts and principles.

American Government is a one semester course that examines the origins of the American constitutional system, analyzes the structure and function of modern American government and politics, and explores the role of the citizen in a representative democracy. This course meets state Social Science standards as well as graduation and college entrance requirements.
The honors-level course will explore the same topics as the standard-level course, but in a more in-depth manner.
Humanities students will learn to appreciate great works of art, architecture, literature, and poetry. Students will look at written works, art works, architecture, social groups, culture, personal history, and political institutions as examples of the
creative power of the human mind and spirit. Students will be exposed to the message of works, the medium used, and how a method is employed. Students will infuse the text with their own personal opinions and express themselves through various mediums. Their
writings and creative projects will serve as an expressive response to the works of others, as well as a major way of forming their own ideas.
Psychology is an elective course is designed to introduce students to the basic concepts of psychology. Students will be introduced to the methodology behind psychological research and will learn how to interpret it. Students will also learn how the human mind works from both biological and cognitive viewpoints. Through this learning, students will develop a better understanding of their own behavior and will gain some practical applications for enriching their lives.
Students in U.S. History (often taken in grade eleven) study the major turning points in American history in the twentieth century. Following a review of the nation's beginnings and the impact of the enlightenment on U.S. democratic ideals, students build upon the previous study of global industrialization to understand the emergence and impact of new technology and a corporate economy, including the social and cultural effects. They trace the change in the ethnic composition of American society; the movement toward equal rights for racial minorities and women; and the role of the United States as a major world power. An emphasis is placed on the expanding role of the federal government and federal courts as well as the continuing tension between the individual and the state. Students consider the major social problems of our time and trace their causes in historical events. They learn that the United States has served as a model for other nations and that the rights and freedoms we enjoy are not accidents, but the results of a defined set of political principles that are not always basic to citizens of other countries. Students understand that our rights under the U.S. Constitution are a precious inheritance that depends on an educated citizenry for their preservation and protection.

Students in World History (often taken in grade ten) study major turning points that shaped the modern world from the late eighteenth century through the present, including the cause and course of the two world wars. They trace the rise of democratic ideas and develop an understanding of the historical roots of current world issues, especially as they pertain to international relations. They extrapolate from the American experience that democratic ideals are often achieved at a high price, remain vulnerable, and are not practiced everywhere in the world. Students develop an understanding of current world issues and relate them to their historical, geographic, political, economic, and cultural contexts. Students consider multiple accounts of events in order to understand international relations from a variety of perspectives.
The honors-level course will explore the same topics as the standard-level course, but in a more in-depth manner.
Students will learn the fundamentals of Italian grammar and pronunciation, how to converse on a limited scale about everyday topics, and how to write and understand Italian within the limits of the grammatical structures and vocabulary introduced in the course. Emphasis will be placed upon communication, and students will be exposed to some of the culture of Italy. Introduces the Italian language emphasizing the mastery of oral communication and use of the written language. Includes the fundamentals of grammar, speaking, reading, and pronunciation. Requires active participation in instructor-coordinated multimedia and online activities as a mandatory component.

Math 6 is a basic math course. It covers integers, fractions, decimals, factors, ratios, proportions, percents, data, graphs, statistics, geometry basics, area of polygons, and surface area of volume of prisms.
Math 7 builds upon the skills learned in Math 6.
Math 8 builds upon the skills learned in Math 7.
Pre-Algebra is essential preparation for Algebra. It covers all basic math concepts like integers, fractions, decimals, factors, ratios, proportions, percents, data, graphs, statistics, geometry basics, area of polygons, and surface area of volume of prisms. It then moves into order of operations; properties of numbers including the distributive property; variables and equations and how to solve them; inequalities and how to solve and graph them; the coordinate plane; relations and functions; slope; intercepts; graphing equations; solving systems of equations; and monomials and polynomials.
Algebra I students use symbolic reasoning and calculations with symbols. They will develop an understanding of the symbolic language of mathematics. In addition, algebraic skills and concepts are developed and used in a wide variety of problem-solving situations.
The Algebra I Honors course includes all of the features of the standard level course. Algebra I Honors also includes an extensive lesson on the 5-step problem solving plan; an introduction to statistics and measures of central tendency, including range, median, mode, stem-and-leaf plots, frequency tables line graphs, and histograms; counting principles, counting outcomes, and tree diagrams; more complicated word problems; extensive operations on polynomials; and simplifying rational expressions.
Algebra II students take algebra skills to the next level. They explore the idea of relations and functions and their domain and range. They learn about polynomials and use long and synthetic division. They find roots of monomials and learn rational exponents. They are introduced to the idea of an imaginary number. Quadratic functions are explored as well as completing the square. Conic sections are explored. The Remainder and Factor Theorems are taught and students will find roots of polynomial functions. Operations like composition are performed on functions and students know how to find the inverse. Rational functions are graphed, multiplied, divided, added, and subtracted. Exponential equations are taught for the first time. Probability and statistics basics are introduced. Sequences and series are also explored.
The Algebra II Honors course studies the material of Algebra 2 at a more extensive and deeper level. The knowledge that it draws on from Algebra 1 is developed further into more complex ideas that require deeper levels of logical and critical thinking. The concepts added to the curriculum are: use of the properties of real numbers and the problem solving plan to solve equations; the trigonometry property to solve inequalities; compound inequalities as a set; using functions as maps; definitions of parallel and perpendicular lines; graphing systems of equations; introduction to linear programming and its applications; dividing monomials; roots using irrational numbers; simplifying rational equations with rational exponents; pure imaginary numbers; graphing quadratics using charts, discriminates, sums, and products of roots; solving and graphing quadratic inequalities; completing the square to graph conic sections; using mathematical induction to prove theorems; using statistics to analyze data; and finding probabilities of common events using practical formulas. The coursework is more complex than the standard Algebra 2 course, and the comprehensive final covers material from both semesters.
Business Math covers concepts that the student will see in the world of business as an owner.
Calculus is the study of change. It is a brand new math unlike any other you have seen so far. We start off with the end of Pre-Calculus (limits) and build from there into new concepts. Basically, the first semester covers the derivative while the second semester covers the integral. There is a third semester available for any student who wishes to challenge themselves further. This semester explores integrals further, then moves into sequences and series and differential equations.
Calculus Honors covers the same material as the standard level course, but views topics in a more in-depth way.
Consumer Math covers concepts that the student will see in the world of business as a consumer.
Geometry students begin with the undefined terms of point, line, and plane. They build up from definitions to axioms, postulates, and theorems. These are used to do geometric proofs using deductive reasoning. Theorems are taught for almost every section covered.
The concepts covered in Honors Geometry are more extensive than the standard course. There is more emphasis on proving statements and using advanced algebra techniques to solve problems. Students must understand postulates and theorems, as well as relate them to the material in order to solve problems. Concepts added to the curriculum include: proving the Midpoint Theorem; Angle Bisector Theorem; relationships between special angles of parallel lines; congruence in triangles; the Isosceles Triangle Theorem; parallelograms; contradictions; similarity; and others. Students are required to find missing values using a variety of concepts from algebra, including systems of equations. Students are required to show how changes in dimension change area and volume, and apply those changes to more difficult problems. The course commences with a comprehensive final exam that tests material from both semesters.
Pre-Calculus is the step between Algebra II and Calculus. It reviews many of the concepts from Algebra II, and then ends with the beginning of Calculus concepts.
Pre-Calculus Honors covers the same material as the standard level course, but views topics in a more in-depth way.
Students will work with probability, data collection, descriptive and inferential statistics, and technological tools to analyze statistics. The main foci of the course will be exploring data, planning a study, producing models using probability theory, and making statistical inferences. Students will work with statistical measures of centrality and spread, methods of data collection, methods of determining probability, binomial and normal distributions, hypothesis testing, and confidence intervals. Students will use multiple representations to present data including written descriptions, numerical statistics, formulas, and graphs.
Trigonometry uses the techniques that students have previously learned from the study of algebra and geometry. The trigonometric functions studied are defined geometrically rather than in terms of algebraic equations. Facility with these functions as well as the ability to prove basic identities regarding them is especially important for students intending to study calculus, more advanced mathematics, physics, and other sciences, as well as engineering in college.
Music courses allow students to discover and build knowledge based on experience, individualized participation, research, and creative learning analysis. Project-based learning is at the core, emphasized by real-world projects and real-world applications. Our approach and philosophy to teaching and learning is constructive in nature. Learning is student-centered, therefore the learning environment will be created to foster the development of skills and the application of active-learning, self-discipline, and time management.
Music 7 will build on the skills learned in Music 6.
Music 8 will build on the skills learned in Music 7.
Students spend the semester in guided practice and study of the bass guitar. New students to the instrument are introduced to the fundamentals of how to play, and practice applying those skills to play songs they enjoy. More experienced students are given the opportunity to continue building their skills and technique under the guidance of the instructor. The course covers standard notation, tablature, and chart reading as well as the identification of note names, key signatures, time signatures, and rhythms. Ear training will include recognizing intervals and chords, sight singing, and rhythmic and melodic dictation, by way of interactive software. While building these important fundamentals, courses of study are always focused on the individual musical interests of each student.
The Bass II course is designed to give the bass student a more in-depth grasp of the concepts of music relating to playing the bass. Additionally, the course will continue to familiarize students with the fundamentals of sight reading and ear training for the application of the bass guitar. The course covers standard notation, tablature, and chart reading as well as the identification of note names, key signatures, time signatures, and rhythms.
This course is designed to give a beginning drum student a solid grasp of the basic concepts of music relating to drums. A complete overview of the instrument will be taught. The student will be given the opportunity to read standard and tablature notation, learning rudiments and essential drum set rhythms. Rhythm patterns will be taught covering a wide variety of music styles. A study of music composition, both historical and cultural, is also covered.
This is a second-level drum course designed to give a drum student a more in-depth grasp of the concepts of music relating to drums. A complete overview of the instrument will be taught. The student will be given the opportunity to read standard and tablature notation, learning rudiments and essential drum set rhythms. This course will take the student into the theoretical concepts of harmony. Coursework includes a complete study of intervals, chord construction, chord voicing, harmonized scales, and modes of the major, melodic minor, harmonic minor, and diminished scales emphasizing instrumental application. A deep study of Gregorian Chants and 1st_4th species counterpoint is included. This class will rely on composition and interactive software. Atonal and impressionist music will be addressed, as well as contemporary.
Music Theory Honors includes all of the features of the standard level course, but studies the material at a deeper level.
Students of this course study the science and mechanics of digital recording. This course lays theoretical groundwork in acoustics and the relationship to electronic equipment used in the recording industry. Students learn basic recording and editing techniques while developing critical listening and viewing skills. This application class provides the student with an in-depth introduction to audio equipment and techniques. The course equips students with the fundamental concepts and terminology necessary to pursue a career in the recording arts, and to establish a foundation for higher-level courses in the audio programs. Topics include basic studio procedures, equipment design, and proper use, in addition to multi-track recording techniques and working creatively with digital audio workstations like ProTools.

This course covers the elements of singing, addressing the specific needs of singers of popular music. It is intended for singers of all levels who want to improve their stamina, increase their range, develop a better sound, and enhance their overall vocal health. In this course, students will study techniques to help them understand and develop their voice by describing the basic elements of their instrument and teaching how to practice. The course helps students to understand the physical aspects of singing, master them, and expand this mastery of the details to a more holistic technical and musical whole.

Basic laboratory skills are developed along with chemical literacy and an appreciation of the role of chemistry in our society. Students will be introduced to the fact that chemistry is involved with all changes in nature and that chemistry is around us at all times. Students will gain knowledge in the field of chemistry that will help in understanding the modern world where chemistry is essential.

The student will be exposed to atomic and molecular, phases of matter, atomic structure and periodic properties, energy of chemical and nuclear reactions, chemical kinetics, equilibrium reactions, solubility, electro-chemical cells, and organic chemistry.
This is a two semester course that introduces the basic concepts of physics. Broad topics to be covered in this course include mechanics (motion and its causes), electricity and magnetism, wave phenomena (sound and light), and rotational dynamics.

This course is designed to introduce students, safely and accessibly, to the basic postures, breathing techniques, and relaxation methods of yoga. Students will begin to experience the benefits of stretching, moving, and breathing freely as they relieve built-up stress, learn to relax, and ultimately get more out of day to-day life. The aim of this course is to promote vibrant health and to tap the body's latent energy reserves.
